![]() ![]() Run the uninstaller, and then reboot, and then try the install again. There are some hidden files that start with a period in the Applications folder (which is bad manners, if you’re going to do that, put them somewhere else Kensington!) - delete both of them. If you’re on Mac OS 11 or above then try the following: If you’re seeing this too, it means the driver isn’t loaded or properly activated. If you’re in the same boat as me, you’ll notice that the USB and Bluetooth icons in the Works app are BOTH greyed out at the bottom, where as one of them is supposed to be blue and lit up. I had to dig into the install scripts in the package and manually clean up some things.įinally the driverkit extension is activated and installed properly now and I’m good to go. Took me all fucking day, but it’s finally working again. I tried SteerMouse and that app DOES indeed work, I can change the settings and it actually recognizes the other two buttons, but it doesn’t have the deep customizations that KensingtonWorks has. There’s gotta be a way to fix this, I mean it WAS working perfectly fine two days ago. It’s like the app isn’t even running, but it is. The scrolling speed, those settings, changing them does nothing at all. None of my application specific customizations work, and nothing else works either. Only bottom left and bottom right buttons work, and they work as left click and right click, and that’s it. The KensingtonWorks application launches just fine, I have all the permissions set for it in system prefs, and the app sees that I have my Expert Wireless Trackball connected…but none of the button assignments actually do anything. I tried upgrading to version 3.0.3 and that doesn’t work either. I had version 2.2.8 installed, and that’s the version that’s in my Time Machine backup. I had this working two days ago, like everything worked as it should, that’s what’s so frustrating. Kensington tech support was nice but none of the suggestions they gave me actually worked. Had to re-install 12.2.1, which fixed everything…except the damned trackball When I first bought this thing, I tried using it in Bluetooth mode, and what would happen is my Mac would go to sleep and the trackball would never wake up, so I switched to USB at that point.Īnyway, I Upgraded to Monterey 12.3 yesterday, and it was an absolute nightmare, multiple things broken. Long story, but I had KensingtonWorks working just fine, Intel Mac 12.2.1 on a 2018 Mac Mini with a expert mouse wireless trackball, using the USB dongle. ![]()
